Orkin acquired the Central Florida branches of a South Florida-based competitor, Hulett Environmental Services Inc.
They said the eight branches — in Orlando, Oviedo, Kissimmee, Lake County, Daytona Beach, Melbourne, Tampa area and Sarasota — have combined revenue of more than $8 million.
Family-owned Hulett, based in West Palm Beach, will retain its South Florida operations.
“While this was a difficult decision, we believe that, by narrowing the company’s footprint, we can concentrate better on growing our South Florida business,” said Tim Hulett, president and owner of Hulett Environmental Services. “This move also allows me to spend more time with my family, which is very important to me.”
Hulett Environmental Services, established in 1968, had 2011 revenue of more than $35 million.
“We are extremely pleased to have reached this agreement,” said John Wilson, president of Orkin USA. “The Huletts and their employees have built a business over the past 40 years that enjoys a great reputation in residential, commercial and termite-control services across the state.”
Transaction details are not disclosed.
